Academic Progress

If after the written warning, sufficient improvement in academic progress is not observed, the host institution reserves the right to discontinue the student’s study. According to the Higher Education Act nr. 63/2006 see above the Higher Education Institutions are autonomous regarding their activities apart from provisions stipulated in laws and regulations or other public decisions based thereon. Therefore each HEI set their own rules - but must fulfil Quality control according to the Quality Enhancement framework.

General rules, pertaining jointly to the University as a whole, its schools and faculties, are set down in Regulation for the University of Iceland, no. 569/2009. This document, with subsequent amendments, is only available in Icelandic but will be available in English shortly.

Article no 61 deals with grades and the minimal requirements. (In Icelandic only)
